It works! August 24, 2010 Bob Had some issues adjusting the antenna properly to get the video and sound quality where it should be, but once the correct directional adjustment was made, it worked and has continued to work like a champ! The only surprise is that the receiver occasionally will pick up a signal from a neighbors' remote control causing the tv attached to the cable box with the transmitter to change channels unexpectedly. Bizarre to see the tv suddenly scroll through the cable guide by itself. But the system definitely works as advertised.
High hopes dashed! July 28, 2010 Kevin J Taddeucci I had high hopes for the product after reading through the mostly good reviews so I placed the order.
After they arrived I hooked them up, which was very easy, and began the process of tweeking the antenna's to get an optimal signal. I tweeked for two day and tried various locations for both the receiver and transmitter and tried all channels. It was very difficult to get a signal that didn't have interference and/or popping sound. The couple times I did manage it the whole picture would shift back and forth. I suspect the interference was coming from my 5.8GHz phone, although I did try unplugging it to no avail. I should note that my house if located in the middle of a 1 acer lot so I don't think the interference could have been coming from anywhere else. I ended up returning them and I'll install a cable. I rated it two stars which reflects my experience but may be a little harsh given that they seem to work well for others. Maybe if you don't have any other 5.8GHz wireless devices they will work well.
I've purchased several of these July 18, 2010 KC kid (Kansas City) I've purchased several pairs of these over the last few years for my church. First off, this is NTSC quality, so if you're expecting HDTV quality, don't go with wireless video. If all you're looking for is a basic video feed to get from point a to b with no inteference, this is a good product. Note that I didn't say great...I've had several of the transmitters fail and had to replace them after a year or so of use. The units can get pretty warm, I recommend that you turn them off when not in use. In my case, I had no other option: concrete floors with no conduit space and extremely high ceilings prohibiting a wired video connection. For the price, the product works as advertised. We don't use the audio feed, so I cannot speak to that. One issue I had is that this is line of sight technology- I needed to get the signal to transmit about 100 feet. I found that I had to raise the transmitter and receiver to provide a clear signal. The first time I set them up, they worked fine until a tall individual stood up and blocked the signal. I've looked at several products and this one provides the best bang for the buck if you need an inexpensive wireless video link, and Amazon provides reasonable pricing for the product.
Saved Expensive Wiring July 4, 2010 Jerry L. Padgett, Sr. (MAGNOLIA, MS, US) After much time and consideration, a friend mentioned this wireless a/v
Unit. It works extremely well from first floor to basement. I recommend it strongly!
Works great with HULU June 8, 2010 J. Thomas Horton I was looking for a way to watch NetFlix and HULU videos on my TV without running wires. The Roku box does not get HULU, the Boxee Box is not yet available and the other products I researched got poor ratings. This unit is simple to set up and works very well. There can be some sound interference until the unit settles down and the video quality is not up to digital standards but is a very acceptable analog quality. I have not tried using the remote control or infared feature yet so I do not know how well this works. If it works as advertised one would be able to control the HULU video when using the HULU desktop program.
